The 2010 game is called “Breakaway” and is played on the “FIELD.” Two alliances, one red and one blue, composed of three FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams each, compete in each match. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent by shooting balls into a goal, climbing on the alliance tower or platform, or by lifting an alliance robot off the playing surface. 2010 Game Animation

This past weekend the Bomb Squad traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in an off-season tournament, the Indiana Robotics Invitational. The Bomb Squad had a great time, and ending up being on the winning alliance, which was the team’s first I.R.I. win.

I.R.I. was also a great chance for a few new team members to experience a competition before the season starts up.

The Bomb Squad moved into week three in full swing with all departments running at full operating speed.

The design crew spent most of the six hour meeting completing the Inventor drawings of the robot.  The robot build team worked to perfect the orbit ball collection system of our ’09 robot.

The 2009 Bomb Squad  met Saturday morning in their new building, which I am affectionately naming The Pink Monster, for the unveiling of this years game.

The new game called “Lunacy” is played on a field known as the “Crater.”   Two alliances, one red and one blue, composed of three FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams each, compete in each match.  The object of the game is to attain a higher score than your opponent by placing the game pieces in the trailers hitched to the opposing alliance’s robots.  What’s the catch?  This years game is played on ice!
